ANSAC engaged DPG to prepare a technical report describing equipment, technologies and operating practices for minimizing dust emissions and reducing product losses due to spillage while unloading soda ash from vessels.
To aid in the evaluation of existing conditions, G. Douglas, with ANSAC representatives, visited several sites in Asia. All cargo unloading locations utilize grab cranes; thus, DPG described key design features addressing dust and spillage reduction during grab crane unloading.
To address specific conditions at the Port of Taichung, Taiwan, DPG prepared a design for a dust-controlled vessel-to-truck transfer "ECO-Hopper" and presented this design to the Port Authority for approval of concept. The ECO-Hopper was approved and a manufacturing firm located in New Zealand was awarded the project. The hopper will begin operation Q2 2020.
